How trees grow – Part 3 (Dormancy in evergreen trees)
Dormancy in evergreens is something that you do not hear about so often as in deciduous. It does occur however but they do not lose their leaves/needles. The tree itself actually stops growing. However perhaps dormant is the wrong type of phrase for them in winter because they do actually carry on with photosynthesis. Something that is not really helping the tree because it doesn’t need the sugars to grow at this time of the year. But it does happen all the same to a small extent.
