How trees grow – Part 2 (dormancy in deciduous trees)

Dormancy in deciduous trees is something everyone knows about and sees in the winter. These trees lose their leaves during the winter and cease all growth until the weather improves in spring. During autumn nearly all growth stops on the tree and they prepare for the winter to come. Their main aim is to store food and energy for the burst of growth they will need in the spring.
